Anacortes’ acquisition of the high-grade Tres Cruces Gold Project is seen as the first step in creating a mid-tier gold producer.

Our Mission

The Company intends to aggressively advance the Tres Cruces Project; initially by evaluating the full range of development alternatives for both oxides and sulfides, and then moving forward through feasibility, permitting and production based on the highest value mining and processing configuration.

James A. (Jim) Currie – President, CEO and Director

Jim Currie has more than 40 years’ of experience in the mining industry and has been responsible for the construction and operation of mines in a number of countries around the world. He is the former Chief Operating Officer of TSX and NYSE-listed Equinox Gold, Pretium Resources and New Gold. He holds a B.Sc. Degree from Queen’s University in Mining Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of British Columbia. Mr. Currie is the 2014 Co-Winner of AME BC’s prestigious EA Scholtz Award for Excellence in Mine Development for his role in building New Gold’s New Afton mine.

Andrew Carstensen - Director

Andrew Carstensen is a professional geologist who has over 43 years’ of experience in mineral exploration within both major mining and junior exploration sectors. Mr. Carstensen is currently VP of Exploration at Luminex Resources and Chief Geologist for Lumina Gold Corp as well as a member of the Board at Sun Summit Minerals. He previously held senior positions with other Lumina Group Companies including Anfield Nickel, Anfield Gold, Lumina Copper, and was technical advisor to a private copper-silver exploration venture in Poland (Miedzi Copper). Prior to his association with the Lumina Group, Mr. Carstensen held senior management roles at Geologix Exploration and Manhattan Minerals. Earlier in his career, Mr. Carstensen held geological positions with Western Gold Exploration, Noranda and Newmont Exploration. Mr. Carstensen holds BA and MS degrees in Geology from the University of Montana and is a Certified Professional Geologist with AIPG.

Barry Hildred - Director

Barry Hildred is a senior executive and successful entrepreneur with varied business leadership experience and was most recently Executive Chairman of Aquila Resources Inc. Mr. Hildred was founder of The Equicom Group, a company specializing in strategic financial and investor relations services for Canadian public companies. In 2007, The Equicom Group was acquired by the TMX Group, owner and operator of the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange. Mr. Hildred also serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada where he is Past-Chair.

K. Wayne Livingston - Director

Wayne is a geologist with over 40 years’ experience in exploration and development working for various resource companies throughout his career. Wayne managed and led the exploration and was involved in the development of a 1 M oz heap leach deposit in Nevada. Wayne also managed the initial exploration and drill program which led to the discovery of the Tres Cruces Project.

Brian Storseth - Director

Brian Storseth has over 20 years’ of experience working in municipal, provincial and federal politics. He started his career by working for the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He was then elected as the Councillor for the Town of Barrhead in Alberta. He was elected to the House of Commons in 2006 and served as Member of Parliament (MP) representing the electoral district of Westlock-St Paul for 10 years.

During his time in the House of Commons, Mr. Storseth was part of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Standing Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Standing Committee on National Defense, Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development, Standing Committee on Environment and the Standing Committee on Indigenous Affairs. He was also the Chair of the Government Mining Caucus for over four years. As a Member of Parliament, Mr. Storseth worked with the government to consult with industry in developing Canada’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy for the extractive industries sector in 2013.

Since leaving politics, Mr. Storseth has served on several non-profit and publicly traded Boards. He also serves on the Boards of several charitable organizations, including Progress for Mental Health and the Canada Lebanon Foundation. Mr. Storseth is also the founder of the Westlock Women’s Hope Resource Centre. He is one of the founders of Reshore Canada, an initiative designed to advocate for the return of critical supply chains and manufacturing to Canada and North America.

Horng Dih Lee – CFO and Corporate Secretary

Horng Dih (H.D.) Lee obtained his M.B.A. from the University of British Columbia and his Chartered Accountant designation in 1988 with Deloitte LLP in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Mr. Lee has worked with public companies in a financial and managerial capacity since 1990. He has extensive experience with financial reporting, corporate governance, budgeting, public company procedures, and mergers and acquisitions.
Since 2016, Mr. Lee has provided consulting services to a number of private and public companies in the mining sector, and in the personal services, medical device, and financial services industries.
From 2008-2016, Mr. Lee was CFO and Corporate Secretary of Eastern Platinum Ltd. (TSX), and from 2004-2007, he was CFO and Corporate Secretary of Northern Orion Resources Inc. (TSX). From 1996 – 2003 Mr. Lee was CFO of Diamond Fields International Ltd. Prior to that, he held positions of increasing responsibility with Galactic Resources, Diamondfields Resources and Auto Marine Electric. Mr. Lee has also been a director of public mining companies, most recently Orosur Mining Inc. (TSX) from 2014-2020 where he was also the Chair of its Remuneration Committee and Audit Committee.

Marshall Koval – Special Advisor to the Board of Directors

Marshall Koval is a mining executive with 42 years’ of corporate management, M&A, finance, mineral exploration, mine development and operations experience and has worked on mining projects in over 30 countries. He is currently President, CEO and a Director of Lumina Gold and was President & CEO of Anfield Gold until it was acquired by Trek Mining in December 2017 in the transaction to form Equinox Gold, where he still serves as a Director. He is also currently CEO and a Director of Luminex Resources and is a Director of Miedzi Copper. Previously, Mr. Koval was a partner in Lumina Capital and served as CEO and President of Northern Peru Copper, VP of Corporate Development for Lumina Copper, President of Pincock, Allen & Holt and held management positions with Golder Associates, BHP/Utah International, Inco, Meridian Minerals and Inspiration Consolidated Copper. Mr. Koval holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Missouri and is a registered professional geologist in North Carolina and Washington.

The Anacortes Leadership team believes that the highest levels of social and environmental responsibility coupled with strong financial performance are the essence of a successful mining company in today’s world.  To this end, the Company has implemented governance policies that will guide our activities as we work towards building a responsible and profitable mid-tier gold producer.
